SUNSHINE MUSIC THERAPY

with Eric Maring "Mr. M"

After all these years, I am so pleased to finally be able to call myself a board certified Music Therapist.  It took two and half years to complete the classwork with the 1200 hour internship and it was an extraordinary process.  The music therapy I offer is for all ages for any stage of life.

I have been drawn to the practice of music therapy (MT) for many years and enjoyed every bit of the training experience.  Much of what makes MT is already woven deeply into my musical practice after 1000’s of hours of musical interaction.  However, my certification really allowed me to go deeper in understanding the role that music therapy can and will play in my practice and in my musical interactions.  While MT can be used to support a wide range of goals, my personal approach is about fostering dignity and human connection through music while addressing goals, set with families, that focus on emotional and physical needs and interactions.  I love that MT’s approach is adaptable and flexible, always tailored to the specific needs and preferences of each individual.  In addition, MT is guided by an assessment and individualized treatment plan, and it is often used in conjunction with other therapeutic modalities to provide holistic care.  It’s worth mentioning that In every session, musical skills are undoubtedly fostered in myriad ways.  For more on music therapy, I would encourage you to visit the American Music Therapy Association website.
